9:15 a.m. OPP update:

CHAPLEAU – On Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016 at approximately 9 a.m. officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Chapleau Detachment were advised of male making threats to Chapleau Public School.  

Due to the nature of the call the Chapleau Public School has been put in a Code Red lockdown.

As a result the entire school was safely evacuated without incident, the school will remain closed while police continue with their investigation.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers.  If you have any information regarding any criminal activity, call 705-268-8477 or 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS); submit an e-tip from The Crime Stopper’s web-site at www.tipsubmit.com.

Algoma District School Board original release:

The Algoma District School Board (ADSB) advises parents that the Chapleau JK-12 School will be closed to all staff and students Thursday as the investigation continues into Wednesday’s threat that was made to the school.

While we are hopeful to re-open the school on Friday, this will be confirmed for parents in a media advisory and through our messaging system sometime later on Thursday.
