NEWS RELEASE
NORTHEASTERN CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD
*************************
Dear Friends of Catholic Education,

During the week of May 3 to May 8, 2020, the Northeastern Catholic District School Board will be celebrating the significant contribution that Catholic Education has made to our school communities. This year’s celebrations will look very different from previous years as our students are learning from home and our teachers are doing everything they can to ensure quality distance education.

The theme for this year’s Catholic Education Week is: Catholic Education: Igniting Hope.

It is our prayer that our students and staff find ways to live the Catholic Education Week theme as best as possible. Small acts of kindness and charity within families and assisting those in need around us, are the first steps to “Igniting Hope” in our homes, neighbourhoods and school communities. As well, we invite you to join in the virtual province-wide mass, being celebrated by Cardinal Collins from St. Michael’s Cathedral on Wednesday, May 6, 2020. Mass begins at 10 a.m. and can be viewed using this link.

As a Catholic school board, we continue to pray for our students, our staff, and all of our families during this extraordinary time. We extend our sincere gratitude to all front line workers, and acknowledge their acts of service and sacrifice to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our communities. These are challenging times, but we remain optimistic that we will emerge from this crisis with vitality, determination, and renewed sense of purpose. Let us continue to work together to be a source of hope for the world.

Sincerely,

Tricia Stefanic Weltz,
Director of Education

Glenn Sheculski,
Chair, Board of Trustees
