Two individuals are facing charges following thefts from vehicles in the area of McLean Dr. and Laforest Road.

During the early morning hours of October 14, 2015, police received reports of multiple vehicles being entered, and valuables being taken.

Reports were received of thefts from at least six locations in the area.

Valuables taken included jewelry, large and small electronics, cash, and cosmetics, among many other items.

Police also received information that the individuals responsible for the thefts were still in the area.

Containment of the area was established by Timmins Police Service patrol officers.

Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police attended and a Canine track was conducted in the area.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., two individuals were located and placed under arrest.

An 18-year-old man from of Val Caron, ON, and a 20-year-old man of Timmins are both facing multiple charges including theft over $5,000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

Additional charges may be pending.

Both individuals appeared in court today and were remanded to a bail hearing set for October 16, 2015.

The Timmins Police Service thanks the Ontario Provincial Police for their assistance in this investigation.

Residents are reminded that the most effective way to avoid becoming a victim of theft is to protect your valuables.

Even if vehicles are locked, valuables should be removed and placed in a secure location.

If valuables are not available to thieves, the chance of these items being taken is greatly reduced.
