QUEENS PARK – During question period, NDP MPP Gilles Bisson asked the Minister of Northern Development and Mines, Michael Gravelle, to help restore bus service between Hearst and Thunder Bay.

“Will you invest in the north and restore what is an essential service to the people of Hearst and others using the service? People have no other choice but to go through Sudbury to attend medical appointments in Thunder Bay. That’s a total of 17 hours.”

Caribou Bus lines (a private company) suspended ‎services on this route early this winter due to low ridership.

Bisson putting pressure on the Minister by comparing southern services versus northern services.

"To me, if the Province is able to subsidize bus services in the South like Go Transit, certainly the Minister can find a way to restore this much needed service in the North."

The minister committed to following up with The Ontario Northland Commission.
