Break-in investigation ends with three charged

On November 13, 2015 at approximately 2:15 p.m., officers with the Moosonee Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a break and enter on Ferguson Road.

It was determined that a quantity of items including electronics, money, and alcohol had been stolen.

Officers entered into an investigation which further revealed that a break and enter had also occurred the previous day November 12, 2015 on Quarry Road.

At approximately 4 p.m. the homeowner located a male inside his residence.

After the male fled it was determined a quantity of items were missing including money, credit cards and various other items.

As a result of this investigation, two males have been charged in relation to the two break and enter occurrences.

One of the males was also determined to have stolen a jacket from the Northern Store the week previous.

Curtis SHISHEESH (33) of Attawapiskat, Ontario is charged with the following:

  • Two counts of Break and Enter contrary to Section 348(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to Section 254(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Three counts of Theft Under $5000 contrary to Section 334(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Fail to Comply with Probation contrary to Section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose contrary to Section 88 of the Criminal Code of Canada.

Leonard KOOSTACHIN (33) of Moosonee, Ontario is charged with the following:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to Section 254(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Fail to Comply with Probation contrary to Section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • On November 18, 2015 the Moosonee OPP executed a search warrant on Wabun Road which resulted in located items taken during the break and enters as well as a quantity of methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA) tablets.

Desiree WABANO (30) and Lyle Young (35) of Moosonee, Ontario are charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Traffick in a Schedule I Substance contrary to Section 5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Leonard KOOSTACHIN and Desiree WABANO have been released and are to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Moosonee on January 6, 2016.

Curtis SHISHEESH and Lyle YOUNG have been held in custody for bail in the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins.
