NEWS RELEASE

TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE

************************
During the afternoon of October 1, 2015, police received a report of human remains located in the area of the Sandy Falls Road, in the Mattagami River.

Uniformed officers attended the scene, along with members of the Criminal Investigation and Forensic Identification sections.

Police believe that the remains have been in the water for a length of time, and are currently reviewing all outstanding missing persons files.

At this time, police do not have reason to suspect foul play is involved.

A post-mortem examination will take place in Toronto to determine cause of death and to identify the individual.

A date for the post-mortem examination has not yet been confirmed.

We will provide an update to the public once the post-mortem examination is complete.

Until that time, no further information is available.
