A book of condolence for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is set up at Timmins City Hall.

Local residents wanting to share a message with the Royal Family can stop by city hall.

A book of condolences for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is set up at Service Timmins. People can stop by to sign it weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. until Monday. Sept. 19. After the funeral on Monday, the book will be mailed to Buckingham Palace.

At last night's council meeting, there was a moment of silence in memory of Queen Elizabeth II, who died Sept. 8. City of Timmins flags have been lowered and will remain that way until sunset on Sept. 19.

Monday is a federal holiday to mourn Queen Elizabeth II. It means that it will be a holiday for federal employees and people in federally regulated industries.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford has decided not to make Sept. 19 a provincial holiday. Instead, he's declared is a Day of Mourning and people may observe a moment of silence at 1 p.m.
