Bonhomme Carnaval lineup announced

Centre Culture La Ronde has unveiled its virtual programming for this year’s Bonhomme Carnaval.

It will run from Feb. 15 until Feb. 27. Events are free and will be accessible via Zoom or Facebook.

Earlier in January, the centre unveiled its candidates for the Bonhomme Carnaval mascot. The identity of the Bonhomme will be revealed on the last day of the carnival, Feb. 27.

Here's what's happening during the Bonhomme Carnaval:

Monday, Feb. 15 – First day of the carnival

  • The virtual carnival will kick off with a yoga class with Amanda Scripnick at 2 p.m.

  • The window decorating contest for local French schools starts. Photos can be sent to [email protected].

Tuesday, Feb. 16 – Timmins Museum: National Exhibition Centre

  • There will be an ice sculpture activity. Instructions can be found on the museum’s Facebook page.

Wednesday, Feb. 17 – Cooking

  • Virtual cooking class with Merv Russell from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. 

Thursday, Feb. 18 – Dance

  • A virtual contemporary dance class for adults with Emma Bertrand starting at 7:30 p.m.

Friday, Feb. 19 – Sip and Paint

  • The session will be led by Gilberte Mathieu from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Participants will be painting lavender using materials that can be bought at Dollar Tree or Dollarama.

Saturday, Feb. 20 – Yoga and a Concert

  • A virtual meditation class with Amilie Chaput at 11 a.m.

  • A concert featuring Madame Diva starting at 1 p.m.

Monday, Feb. 22 – Storytime with the Timmins Public Library

  • A virtual story for children during the day. The story, called La tempête du siècle written by Robert Munsch, will be read via YouTube.

Tuesday, Feb. 23 – Dance

  • Virtual dance class for the schools with Melissa Kelly-Lavoie at 10 a.m.

  • It's the last day of the window decorating contest.

Wednesday, Feb. 24 – Cooking and a visit

  • A virtual cooking class with Julie Lefebvre from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

  • Bonhomme Carnaval will visit schools if pandemic restrictions allow.

Thursday, Feb. 25 – Concert and a visit

  • Visit from the Bonhomme Carnaval to the schools.

  • Virtual concert with Kelly Bado at 7 p.m.

Friday, Feb. 26 – Bonhomme's visit and Zumba

  • Bonhomme Carnaval will continue to visit schools if restrictions allow.

  • Virtual Zumba class with Michelle Ethier Lapointe at 7 p.m. 

Saturday, Feb. 27 – End of the carnival

  • Virtual concert with Bill Bestiole starting at 11 a.m.

  • The winning school of the window decorating contest will be announced.

  • Virtual concert from the Lapointe family at 7 p.m. and Dayv Poulin at 8:30 p.m.

  • Revealing of the Bonhomme.
