A day of sunshine and sweet treats is being served up for the first day of spring.

The Downtown Timmins BIA is hosting a day of activities on Third Avenue this Saturday, March 20.

A section of the street will be closed to traffic from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to allow for the events.

The Timmins Public Library will be doing an outdoor story hour from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in front of the Timmins Flower Shop. There will be four books, two in English and two in French.

A mini Urban Park Market will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Acres of Dreams and La Vache a Maillotte - Fromagerie Nordique will be set up for it.

The Timmins Police Service will also have a vehicle downtown with sirens and flashing lights unless they have to leave due to an emergency.

BeaverTails are also back for the event.

The delicious pastries are being served up today until Sunday.

"Since we were in lockdown during the Winter Carnival  and couldn’t have them come up then we asked if they could come up in March instead!! Of course to make it worth their while they don’t come up for just one day," said Stacey Martin, Downtown Timmins BIA executive assistant.

The hours for BeaverTails are March 19 and March 20 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and March 21 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
