On Wednesday, March 21, 2018 English Catholic Central School hosted six girls’ basketball teams and eight boys’ basketball teams at the first annual Chris Collins Memorial Basketball Challenge.

Chris Collins was a long time Catholic educator with the Northeastern Catholic District School Board. His passing was a tremendous loss to our entire community.

“Chris was a close friend of mine, and for those who knew him, sports were a very important part of his life. As a teacher and principal, he strongly believed in the potential of sport to have positive influence in a child’s life, and strived to increase competitive and recreational sporting opportunities for students throughout his career," Matt Turner, Principal at ECCS commented.

"All proceeds from this annual tournament will be donated to the Temiskaming Hospital Cancer Centre in his memory. I would also like to thank Mr. Todd Bosak who was instrumental in the creation and organization of this event. Congratulations to the inaugural champions, and thank you to all schools that participated.”
