Fierté Timmins Pride is looking for artwork showing the experiences of 2SLGBTQ+ people in northeastern Ontario.
Selected art pieces will be published in a report, which is a part of the needs assessment study launched by Fierté Timmins earlier this year.
The report is expected to be released soon, according to the organization’s president Matthieu Villeneuve.
The contest was created to make the document visually stimulating, vibrant, and to bring community members into it.
“Because after all, it is for the community,” Villeneuve said. “Though we have all their ideas, this will give them an opportunity to share their creativity within the report.”
The contest ends at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 8.
Accepted art forms include visual or written pieces. If the pandemic restrictions allow, the art may be displayed at the launch event for the needs assessment report.
The three selected art pieces will be rewarded with a Lenovo Smart Tab M8 tablet. Other artwork may be promoted in the report as well.
Fierté Timmins Pride launched the project to identify and fill gaps in the current community services provided for the 2SLGBTQ+ community in northeastern Ontario.
The non-profit received $125,000 from the Department of Women and Gender Equality Canada and hired ATZ Equity Consulting to complete the study, which also focused on the experiences of First Nation and Métis communities.
Focus groups and key informant interviews were already held as part of the study.
"There was a good turnout and we’re thankful for the community’s participation. It was great,” Villeneuve said. “I’m excited to see the results myself and see the art pieces.”

All images must be print quality (300 DPI, minimum size 3,000x3,000px.) Acceptable formats are jpeg, png or tiff.
