Arrest made in parcel theft investigation

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with Theft stemming from an incident where delivery parcels were allegedly stolen from a north end residence during the afternoon hours of Monday, July 8.

The Timmins Police Service officers who attended the scene initiated an investigation and were able to identify the suspect based on video surveillance equipment in use at the residence.

The suspect and the items taken were located by the investigating officer with the Timmins Police Service.

As a result of the incident, Wesley McIntyre, 51, of Timmins has been charged with:
    •    theft under $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused has been released from custody but must attend Provincial Court in Timmins in mid-August to answer to the charges laid against him.

The Timmins Police Service wish to remind all residents to be vigilant when expecting to receive parcels or couriered items that are left unprotected.
