Angel investing and entrepreneurship will be the focus of a Timmins event scheduled for this April.
Venture Timmins, an initiative of Northern Ontario Angels and Link North, will take place on April 27 at Timmins’ Best Western Premier Northwood Hotel.
"We believe that entrepreneurship and innovation are key drivers of economic growth and prosperity, and we are excited to provide a platform for our local community to come together and explore new opportunities," said Ian Lane, executive director of the Northern Ontario Angels, in a March 21 news release.
"We hope that Venture Timmins will inspire attendees to take action, pursue their dreams, and make a positive impact in our Northern region.”
The itinerary for the day includes:
- Expert-led seminars and networking opportunities focused on angel investing;
- A fireside chat with Timmins Economic Development Corporation and NORCAT representatives on the CORE5 initiative that supports Northern Ontario businesses in developing electric vehicle and battery electric vehicle technologies;
- Entrepreneurial showcases by Patrick Rainville of Rainville Foot Health, Jason Michaud of Stardust Technologies, and Stephen Podrucky of PODCO Inc.; and
- A keynote presentation by Dr. Sean Wise, a professor of entrepreneurship at Toronto Metropolitan University and a former Dragons’ Den advisor.
Following the conference, Venture Timmins and CORE5 are hosting a speed-networking event at Full Beard Brewing from 5:30-8:30 p.m., facilitated by Sandi Emdin, a leadership development coach.
During the event, entrepreneurs and investors will have the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and build relationships that could lead to new business opportunities.
