On October 23rd was our screening of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. We would like to send out our thanks for all the support we received. We would like to thank Alliance for hosting this event and for all the support we received from individuals and the community. We are looking at making this an annual event, so those of you who weren’t able to make it have not missed out.

Our next awareness and fund raising campaign starts now. We are planning a day of silence on November 19th in honor of the Transgender Day of Remembrance which is on the 20th. All five members of Alliance (Catherine Hutchison, Liz Major, Julz Moore, Sabrina Ratte and Claire Thorne), a group that supports ALLY, are looking to be sponsored to spend this day between 8:30 A.M. and 8:30 P.M. in complete silence.

The money that is raised will go towards the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Queer/Questioning + (LGBTQ+) and Supporters Drop-in Centre which is called Safe Haven, more fun events like Rocky Horror, as well as creating a bursary for a student involved with ALLY. Through this centre we are looking to provide peer-to-peer support for anyone who needs it, as well as education for any of those who would like to learn about LGBTQ+ issues.

Even if you are unable to donate, we are asking that people spend five minutes in silence to remember those who have taken their own lives or have had their lives taken due to the bullying surrounding being transgender.
