$90K of drugs seized in Cochrane search warrants

Two people are facing multiple trafficking charges after an estimated $90,000 of drugs were seized during search warrants at two locations in Cochrane. 

The search warrants were executed by OPP Community Street Crime Unit officers just before 10 a.m. on June 22. 

Officers seized suspected fentanyl, cocaine, crack cocaine, meth, crystal meth and psilocybin (magic mushrooms) worth an estimated $90,000. Two guns were also seized, along with Canadian currency.

Two people have been charged. 

Anas Nawajha, 20, of Cochrane is charged with:

  • Two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine 
  • Two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid (other than heroin)
  • Possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Two counts of failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court
  • Possession of property obtained by crime - under $5,000

Amber Levesque, 31, of Cochrane is charged with: 

  • Two counts of possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
  • Two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid (other than heroin)
  • Possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking

Both of the accused are in police custody. The date for their court appearances has not been announced yet. 

None of the charges have been tested in court.
