5 new COVID-19 cases, no recoveries reported Thursday

Five new COVID-19 cases and no recoveries are being reported by the Porcupine Health Unit today (Nov. 4).

Four people are in Timmins and one person is in the area of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls and Smooth Rock Falls. 

To date, there have been 2,232 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in the region. Of those, 2,192 are recovered and 31 people have died. There are nine known active cases — eight in Timmins and one in the area of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls and Smooth Rock Falls.

There are 55,865 people who have received at least one dose of the vaccine in the region. There have been 107,286 doses administered.

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Matheson, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst, and Hornepayne, as well as communities on the James Bay coast.
