4 new COVID-19 cases reported Saturday

Four new COVID-19 cases are being reported by the Porcupine Health Unit today (Aug. 28).

Three people are in Timmins and one person is in the area of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls and Smooth Rock Falls.

To date, there have been 2,167 confirmed cases of the virus in the region. Of those, at least 2,125 are recovered and 31 people have died. While the health unit reports new cases on the weekend, recoveries are not updated.

So far, 50,409 people have received at least one dose of the vaccine. There have been 94,034 doses of the vaccine administered in the region. 

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Matheson, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst, and Hornepayne, as well as communities on the James Bay coast.
