30 new COVID-19 cases reported Saturday

There are 30 new COVID-19 cases being reported in the Porcupine Health Unit today (June 5). 

Ten of the cases are in Timmins and 20 are in the James Bay area. 

Six people are the contacts of a case and the exposure of 24 is under investigation.

To date, there have been 1,569 confirmed cases of the virus in the region. As of yesterday, there had been 1,164 recoveries and 27 people have died. While the health unit reports new cases on the weekend, the number of known active cases and recoveries is not updated.

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Matheson, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst, and Hornepayne, as well as communities on the James Bay coast.
