20-year-old charged in Englehart stabbing investigation

ENGLEHART - On Aug. 23, 2019, members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began an investigation into a historical domestic assault that took place Aug. 20, 2019 in the Town of Englehart.

The victim attended a property in Englehart, and was involved in a physical altercation where the victim was stabbed.

As a result of the investigation, a 20-year-old Temagami resident was arrested and charged with the following offences:
    •    aggravated assault, contrary to section 268 of the Criminal Code (CC);
    •    assault with a weapon, contrary to section 267(a) of the CC; and
    •    mischief Under $5,000, contrary to section 430(4) of the CC.

The accused has been released on a Promise to Appear with conditions and is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date in the City of Temiskaming Shores, Ont.

The OPP will not be releasing the name of the accused in order to protect the identity of the victim.
