Voting for the old St. Thomas Church as the Next Great Save runs until May 6.

Two historic buildings in northeastern Ontario are part of a national competition.

This is the last full week to vote in the National Trust's Next Great Save Competition.

The St. Thomas Church in Moose Factory and the LaSalle Theatre in Kirkland Lake are both finalists in the contest. The winner takes home $50,000, with the runner-ups getting $10,000 and $5,000 to put towards work on their respective heritage projects.

The Moose Factory Church was built by Hudson’s Bay Company fur traders, settlers, and Cree residents between 1856 and 1864. The Anglican Diocese of Moosonee deconsecrated the church in 2006 due to its state of disrepair, but plans to restore it and turn it into a multi-use community space have been in motion for decades.

Kirkland Lake's LaSalle Theatre was built in 1939 and is one of the last four remaining streamline modern art deco theatres in Canada. Any cash that the theatre could win would be used to help replace the roof.
