2 new COVID cases, 34 recoveries in region

Two new COVID-19 cases are being reported in Timmins today.

Since the Porcupine Health Unit's last report Friday, there have been 34 recoveries from the virus in the region.

The exposure of the new cases in Timmins is under investigation and the people are in self-isolation, according to the health unit.

To date, there have been 644 confirmed cases of the virus in the region. Of those, 502 are recovered and 26 people gave died. There are 116 known active cases. 

So far, 29,766 have been vaccinated, which is an increase of 1,082 from Friday's report. There have been 31,064 doses of the vaccine administered.

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Matheson, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst, and Hornepayne, as well as communities on the James Bay coast.
