2 new COVID-19 cases reported Friday

A day after getting down to no known active COVID-19 cases in the region, two new cases are being reported by the Porcupine Health Unit today (Oct. 29).

Both of the people are in Timmins. 

To date, there have been 2,224 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in the region. Of those, 2,191 are recovered and 31 people have died. There are two known active cases in Timmins.

There are 55,591 people who have received at least one dose of the vaccine in the region, which is an increase of 100 from yesterday's report. There have been 106,656 doses administered.

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Matheson, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst, and Hornepayne, as well as communities on the James Bay coast.
