2 new COVID-19 cases, 4 recoveries reported Friday

Two new COVID-19 cases and four recoveries are being reported by the Porcupine Health Unit today (July 16).

One person is in Timmins and one person is in the James Bay area.

To date, there have been 2,110 confirmed cases of the virus. Of the confirmed cases, 2,057 are recovered and 30 people have died. There are 23 known active cases — 4 in Timmins and 19 in the James Bay area.

So far, 48,750 people have been vaccinated, which is an increase of 22 from yesterday's report. There have been 87,347 doses of the vaccines administered.  Both of these are the same as yesterday's report.

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Matheson, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst, and Hornepayne, as well as communities on the James Bay coast.
