$111,000 in drugs, firearms seized by police following search warrant

The Timmins Police Service – Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU), working in conjunction with the Timmins Police Emergency Response Team (ERT), executed a Controlled Drug and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a multi-unit dwelling in the north end of the city yesterday afternoon.

As a result of the search, 10 adult persons were arrested with 9 of them remaining in police custody for the purposes of a bail hearing. A total of 119 charges were laid against these persons in relation to this investigation.

The search resulted in the seizure of the following controlled substances:

  • 40 grams of heroin
  • 221.7 grams of cocaine
  • 31.6 grams of crack cocaine
  • 7.1 grams of 'purp' (mixture of Heroin and powdered Fentanyl)
  • 117 oxycodone tablets
  • 17 methamphetamine tablets
  • 92.5 Fentanyl patches
  • a Glock 9 mm handgun with extended magazine
  • a loaded 45 caliber handgun

The estimated street value of the controlled substances seized is assessed at $111,000.00. In addition, an undetermined quantity of Canadian Currency was also seized as a result of the CDSA warrant being executed.

The following persons were arrested and held for bail on the charges listed:

Justin Skinner-Whithers, 41 of Timmins:

  • 4 counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
  • 1 count of possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • 11 firearms related charges contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Vince Dejala, 20, of no fixed address:

  • 4 counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
  • 5 firearms related charges contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Jeffrey Dondji, 19, of Ottawa:

  • 4 counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
  • 6 firearms related charges contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • 2 counts of fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Asadullah Ghani, 23, of Toronto:

  • 4 counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
  • Possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • 7 firearms related charges contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • 2 counts of fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • 2 counts of fail to comply with recognizance contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Samantha Kitler, 29 of North Bay:

  • 4 counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
  • Possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • 7 firearms related charges contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • 2 counts of fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Bernice Sutherland, 61, of Timmins:

  • 4 counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
  • 5 firearms related charges contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Jamie Sutherland, 37 (male) of Timmins:

  • 4 counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
  • 5 firearms related charges contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Shelley Sutherland 36 of Porcupine, Ontario:

  • 4 counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
  • 5 firearms related charges contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Jean Frantzy, 33 of Ottawa:

  • 4 counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
  • Possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • 7 firearms related charges contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • 4 counts of fail to comply with recognizance contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

These accused remains in police custody while awaiting a Bail Hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against them.

Additionally, Wendy Rothwell, 46, of Timmins was arrested and subsequently released with a court date of Dec. 18 at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to 4 counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act.
