11-year-old girl dead in highway snowmobile crash

IROQUOIS FALLS –  On Feb. 1, 2017 at 12:54 p.m., members of  the Iroquois Falls Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to investigate a collision involving a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) and a motorized snow vehicle (MSV) on Highway 11 at Pipeline Road, south of Iroquois Falls. 

The investigation revealed, Amanda Huxley, 11 years old, of Burlington, was operating her MSV when she crossed the highway and struck a northbound CMV.  She was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The Highway remained closed until 7:38 p.m while OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators conducted their investigation.
