Eleven new COVID-19 cases and an outbreak are being reported by the Porcupine Health Unit today.

All of the new cases are in Timmins. Five people are the contacts of a case, four are related to an outbreak and two are related to an institutional outbreak. All of the people are in self-isolation, according to the health unit.

The outbreak is at the YMCA on Poplar in Timmins. So far, four people at the site are confirmed cases. The health unit investigation has determined the cases are linked to the workplace.

To date, there have been 642 confirmed cases of the virus in the health unit region.  As of Friday, 468 were recovered and 26 people have died. While the health unit reports new cases on the weekend, the number of people who have recovered is not updated.

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Matheson, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst, and Hornepayne, as well as communities on the James Bay coast.
