10 additional COVID cases reported by health unit

Ten additional COVID-19 cases are being reported by the Porcupine Health Unit. 

This brings the total number of cases reported today to 19.

Nine of the new cases are in Timmins and one is in the area of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls and Smooth Rock Falls. 

For the Timmins cases, six people are the contact of a case and the exposure of three is under investigation, according to the health unit. The case in the area  of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls and Smooth Rock Falls is related to an outbreak.

To date, there have been 615 confirmed cases of the virus in the region. Of those, 461 are recovered and 26 people have died. There are 128 known active cases.

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Matheson, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst, and Hornepayne, as well as communities on the James Bay coast.
