1 new COVID-19 case, no recoveries reported Wednesday

There are seven known active cases in the region, all but one are in Timmins

One new COVID-19 case and no recoveries are being reported by the Porcupine Health Unit today (Aug. 25).

The new case is a person in Timmins. 

To date, there have been 2,161 confirmed cases of the virus in the region. Of those, 2,123 are recovered and 31 people have died. There are seven known active cases — six in Timmins and one in the area of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls and Smooth Rock Falls.

So far, 50,260 people have received at least one dose of the vaccine. There have been 93,667 doses of the vaccine administered in the region.

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Matheson, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst, and Hornepayne, as well as communities on the James Bay coast.
