Workplace Safety North (WSN) is hosting a series of webinars through October that focus on mental health in the workplace.
Timed to coincide with the celebration of Healthy Workplace Month, the sessions will explore mental health leadership, self-care, resilience, and empathy.
Angele Poitras, WSN's community engagement specialist, said the workshops are designed for workers, supervisors, and employers. Poitras is also a psychological health and safety advisor certified with the Canadian Mental Health Association.
“We all know how difficult the past 18 months have been, so I highly recommend people register and take the time for their own personal growth and focus on building their healthy workplace – whether they’re working from home or have to be on the frontline during the pandemic,” Poitras said in a news release.
“The series explores how your role in the workplace has the power to affect the well-being of those around you. You’ll learn more about the relationship between self-respect, self-care and leadership, explore the mental health continuum, identify the sources of resilience and the opportunities to help us bounce back, and identify steps we can all take to help stamp out the stigma around us.
The schedule of speakers follows:
- Oct. 6 – Self-Respect: The Foundation of Leadership, presented by Drew Dudley, author and leadership expert;
- Oct. 13 – Mental Health Awareness: presented by Elisha Malette, WSN health and safety specialist and certified psychological health and safety advisor;
- Oct. 20 – Resilience: Recognizing our Capacity to Adapt, presented by Lindsay Digby, CRSP, WSN health and safety specialist and certified psychological health and safety advisor; and
- Oct. 27 – Stamping Out Stigma: presented by Adrienne Allam, CRSP, WSN health and safety specialist and certified psychological health and safety advisor.
