Starbucks drive-thru lined up for Timmins

Popeyes should be opening in the coming weeks

Something new is brewing at a growing development in Timmins.

Next year, a Starbucks with a drive-thru is opening its doors in the Morris A Feldman Development at the intersection of Highway 655 and Algonquin Boulevard.

It will be located between Feldman Timber BMR and the Timmins LCBO. Work on the 2,345-square-foot building has started, with Lorne Feldman saying the anticipated opening is in 2024.

“We’re just really pleased to be getting the calibre of tenants. Starbucks is an international company and we think it will be a great addition to our existing complement of tenants,” he said.

Starbucks Canada says the target opening is in the summer of 2024. It did not comment about whether the existing location in town will remain open as well or how many new jobs the location will create.

Another restaurant in that area should also be opening its doors soon.

Popeyes chicken should be open in the coming weeks, said Feldman.

“Popeyes is very close to opening. The construction was really challenging, it was really difficult for a host of reasons, but they are very close to opening," he said.

Across from Johnson's YIG, the Feldman development has been actively growing in recent years.

“We have a lot of things planned and we think there could be some more exciting additions. At this point, nothing’s final so as much as I’d like to share the news, I can’t at this point. We’re going to try and bring new and exciting tenants to the site ... stay tuned,” he said.
