There's good news for people who love that chicken from Popeyes.
The restaurant is projected to open by late 2022, according to a statement from the company.
Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen will be located at the intersection of Highway 655 and Algonquin Boulevard. It will be on the Shoppers Drug Mart side of the development in the north end of the parking lot near Algonquin.
Timmins council approved the site plan control agreement for Popeyes and a 10,000-square-foot expansion to the Shoppers building in July 2020. A building permit was issued in late 2020 for both projects. Work on the Popeyes has yet to start.
The expansion to the building is making way for a new, consolidated LCBO. Construction is underway, however, there is no opening date yet.
