New restaurant opens downtown Timmins (13 photos)

Quesada Burritos and Tacos is located on Balsam Street South

A new restaurant serving fresh tacos and burritos has opened its doors in Timmins.

The grand opening of Quesada Burritos and Tacos took place this morning. The restaurant is located at 29 Balsam St. S.

The owner Dixitkumar Patel, 32, has been living in Kirkland Lake for the past 12 years.

After he opened Quesada Burritos and Tacos in Kirkland Lake in 2019, there was "always a plan" to open another restaurant nearby, he said.

“We live in Northern Ontario and we don’t have too many choices. We go to Sudbury or North Bay, you don’t want to go four hours to get something different,” he said. “That’s the main goal, so people can shop local or don’t have to commute too much just for different food.”

Patel’s business partner is Niravkumar Patel, who lives in Timmins.

There is 12 staff at the Timmins location, all hired locally. The food is made fresh every day.

“In our kitchen, we don’t have anything else except for the prep table and fridges. There's no other equipment, there's no deep-frying, ” Patel said. "Everything every day is made fresh."

Delivery via Skip the Dishes and Door Dash will start next week, according to Patel. There’s also a Quesada app which people can use to make orders and earn points.

"I spent lots of time in Timmins for the last 12 years on different occasions. I'm looking forward to serving the community and trying to do best for everybody," Patel said.

The current hours of operation are Monday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
