Forest products giant EACOM Timber is donating more than half of its supply of protective KN95 masks to health-care frontline workers near its mills in Northern Ontario.
Nairn Centre gets 800 masks for the Espanola Regional and Health Centre, while the City of Timmins will receive 600 masks for the Timmins and District Hospital, the Timmins Police and the local ambulance service.
The municipality of Elk Lake receives 600 masks to hand off to the Temiskaming Hospital and the area ambulance service.
The municipality of Gogama gets 300 masks for the local paramedic services station.

Masks are also going to the Sault Area Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie and the Ear Falls Ambulance Station in northwestern Ontario.
"We recognize that global and local supply chains have been challenged during the COVID-19 crisis and that the medical and first responder communities are facing shortages,” said EACOM president-CEO Kevin Edgson in an April 29 news release.
“It is our privilege to share what supplies we can all the while ensuring that our employees are properly protected. We operate in tightly-knit communities who have always come together to support each other in times of need, and this is no different.”
The Montreal-based company said it will continue to evaluate its inventory to identify future opportunities to collaborate with local health-care organizations.
EACOM runs seven sawmills, a remanufacturing facility, and engineered I-joist plant in eastern Canada, employing 1,200.
