Cash helping with job placement opportunities

Provincial cash is helping businesses add to their operations. 

The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) has announced a new round of funding for job placement opportunities in Timiskaming-Cochrane and Mushkegowuk-James Bay areas. The cash is through the People and Talent Program that supports internships for people new to the workforce, transitioning to a new career or who are unemployed or underemployed.

In Timiskaming-Cochrane, there is more than $944,000 being handed out for 34 job placement opportunities. Fourteen recipients are getting a total of $453,000 in Kiiwetinoong and Mushkegowuk—James Bay.

Highlights of the Timiskaming-Cochrane funding include $50,857 for Black River-Matheson to hire a medical recruiter to develop a physician recruitment startety and for an economic development assistant to help with marketing, communications and updating the township's economic development strategy.

There's also $35,000 for Northern Policy Institute to hire a big data analytics help better understand Northern Ontario issues. A link to the full funding list is available here.

The Mushkegowuk-James Bay cash includes $35,000 for a kids and youth pastor in South Porcupine, $26,163 for an accountant at Baker Tilly HKC in Kapuskasing, and $35,000 for a program worker at the Smooth Rock Falls Hospital. The full breakdown of all the funding is available at this link.
