New COVID-19 case reported in James Bay, Hudson Bay area

This brings the Porcupine Health Unit's total COVID-19 cases to 109

The Porcupine Health Unit is reporting one new case of COVID-19, bringing the region's total to 109.

There is now a total of three active cases in the region.

The 109th case has been reported in the area of James Bay, Hudson Bay. The health unit says the individual is self-isolating, and the exposure category is under investigation.

The PHU will contact any close contact of the individual.

The first case of COVID-19 in James Bay and Hudson Bay was reported in early September in Moose Factory. A total of four cases were confirmed in the community in September, and all have been resolved. 

Last month, there was a potential exposure notice for people who travelled on the 5 p.m. Polar Bear Express train from Moosonee to Cochrane on Friday, Nov. 13. That advisory ended Friday, Nov. 27.
