Migrant workers receive travel exemption to work on farms, food processing facilities in Canada

Update:

The federal government is providing $50 million to assist farmers and food processors in hiring temporary foreign workers.

Workers coming to Canada have been granted a travel exemption to enter Canada, and will be subject to the mandatory 14-day isolation period.

Seniors minister Deb Schulte is urging long term care facilities to follow the federal government's latest measures to slow the spread of COVID-19.

The latest federal guidelines for long term care facilities will restrict all visits to essential workers and visitors, while boosting screening measures and making protective masks mandatory at long term care homes.

Workers in long term care homes will be limited to working in a single facility.
