No charges will be laid against the driver of a tractor-trailer involved a crash that killed a Schumacher man last month, according to police.

The crash happened around 5:30 a.m. Sept. 8 on Highway 101 just east of Schumacher when an eastbound tractor trailer hit an eastbound man.

It was originally reported as a crash involving a cyclist, however Timmins Police have clarified that the victim — 59-year-old Robert Morin — was walking his bike on the highway at the time, classifying him as a pedestrian.

In an update today, Timmins Police said the investigation into the crash is complete. No charges will be laid against the driver.

"The vehicle involved was subjected to a thorough mechanical inspection and no notable defects that could have contributed to the collision were discovered," reads the update.

"The outcome of this investigation is the result of significant consulation with the local Crown Attorney's office."

Police say the family of Morin has been informed of the investigative findings.
