A teenager is among the three people from southern Ontario facing charges after a traffic stop on Highway 144.
Just before 1 p.m. on May 4, South Porcupine OPP officers pulled over a vehicle on the main road between Timmins and Sudbury.
Police say suspected crack cocaine, fentanyl, marijuana and khat leaves, with an estimated street value of $50,000. A loaded Glock 9 mm handgun magazine was also found.
Three people are facing charges.
Frederick Jahrel, 32, of North York is charged with:
- Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
- Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid
- Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - heroin
- Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - other drugs
- Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was prohibited device or ammunition
- Possession of firearm/ammunition contrary to prohibition order
Valerie Lynn, 31, of Mississauga is charged with:
- Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
- Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid
- Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - heroin
- Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - other drugs
- Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was prohibited device or ammunition
- Possession of firearm/ammunition contrary to prohibition order
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
A 17-year-old from Scarborough who can't be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act is charged with:
- Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
- Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid
- Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - heroin
- Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - other drugs
- Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was prohibited device or ammunition
- Person under 19 years - possess cannabis
Jahrel and York are in police custody waiting for a bail hearing. The 17-year-old was released at a bail hearing.
None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
