TIMMINS- Despite making a profit of 194-million dollars last year, Canada Post announced this morning (Wed) that they will be ending door to door delivery of mail in for the postal codes P4N, P4P, and P4R.

These cuts will be impacting around 10,000 addresses and are scheduled to kick in for 2016.

However, Timmins-James Bay MP Charlie Angus says the NDP will protect home delivery if elected this fall.

“New Democrats agree that we need a modern postal service, but, in the face of 20 years of profit, there is no justification for these cuts, thousands of jobs lost, or the end of home delivery services. The Harper Conservatives continue to put their ideology over the best interests of every day Canadians.”

The end to door to door delivery in [Timmins] will be a long process likely finalizing in late spring, early summer 2016.

In the meantime, all questions should be directed to Post service line: Post service line: 1-844-454-3009.

“The end to door to door mail delivery will impact some of the most disadvantaged members of our community, the hardest hit being the elderly and disabled. The Conservatives can’t deliver on improving pensions, couldn’t deliver on the health accords, and now they can’t even deliver our mail.”
