With the arrival of the fresh snowfall, the Timmins Police Service would like to remind drivers to adjust their driving habits according to road conditions.

This period of adjustment typically occurs each fall as drivers grow accustomed to the changing road conditions.

With the snow comes slippery roads, especially at intersections.

The morning of October 31, Timmins Police officers responded to several motor vehicle collisions related to the winter driving conditions.

Drivers are reminded to slow down, and be cautious when approaching intersections.

Leave extra room between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you, and give yourself extra time to arrive at your destination.

If possible, use winter tires, and keep an eye on changing weather conditions.

Ensure mechanics such as windshield wipers, defrost system, lights and brakes are in good working order, and be thorough when scraping ice off your vehicle’s windshield.

By following the above winter driving tips, you can help to ensure the winter months are safe for everyone sharing the roadways.
