*************************
MADD Timmins kicks of its annual Project Red Ribbon campaign with its Victims’ Vigil, Brunch, and Silent Auction.

The event will take place Sunday, November 2, 2014, at the Porcupine Dante Club (162 Cedar Street North).

9:30 a.m. – Victims’ Vigil

10:30 a.m. – Brunch, Silent Auction

The public are welcome to attend.

Brunch tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for children 6 – 12 years.

Tickets are available from all volunteers or by contacting the chapter at 363-5374 or at [email protected].

MADD Canada’s largest and longest-running public awareness campaign, Project Red Ribbon, is designed to combat impaired driving during the holidays.

The red ribbon is a symbol of a person’s commitment to drive safe and sober during the holiday season and throughout the year, and also serves as a reminder to other motorists to drive sober.

Every day, on average, 4 Canadians are killed and 207 more are injured due to alcohol- and drug-related crashes.

MADD Canada works to change these numbers each and every day.

Together with area businesses, the MADD Timmins Chapter is asking residents of Timmins and Area to tie a MADD Canada red ribbon to their antenna, side mirror or other visible location on the vehicle and/or on their keychain.

MADD Canada red ribbons are available at the local police forces and the local MADD office.

Project Red Ribbon runs from December 1 until the first Monday after New Years.
