NORM MILLER, PC NORTHERN DEVELOPMENT AND MINES CRITIC

QUEEN’S PARK – “This is just another example of the Liberal’s dragging their feet on past promises made to develop the Ring of Fire,” stated Norm Miller, MPP for Parry Sound - Muskoka.

The Ontario PC Critic for Northern Development and Mines and Aboriginal Affairs made the remarks in regard to the recent news of Cliffs Natural Resources potentially selling their claim in the Ring of Fire.

Once touted by the provincial government as a catalyst to spur investment in Northern Ontario, development of the vast resource deposit was dealt a significant blow last November when Cliffs Natural Resources made the decision to cease operations at its exploration camp in the region and to close offices in Thunder Bay and Toronto.

“It is certainly interesting to note that only a few short years ago Cliffs targeted a production date as early as 2015.” concluded Miller.

“To me this is just another example of the Liberal’s failure to make Ontario a place to invest,” said Miller. “The Ring of Fire should be bringing investment to Northern Ontario, not driving it out.”
