Annual Lund Angler and Young Angler Tournament promises many prizes

No child will go home empty-handed, says David Reid in this edition of Fishing in the North

July 14 will once again see anglers and young anglers heading to  the Cache Campground on beautiful Kenogamissi Lake to compete in the Annual Lund Angler Young Angler Tournament hosted by Guiho Saw Sales and Marine Ltd.

If prior AYA Tournaments are any indication, this year should be another great event for anglers and their young anglers to compete in.

The Angler & Young Anglers Fishing Tournament began in 1998, to give young anglers a chance to compete in a competitive style tournament.

Thanks to Guiho Saw Sales and Marine Ltd., this tournament is still going strong in Timmins and area. It also offers a fun day for not only the anglers and young anglers but also for the families that attend it to cheer on their favorite team.

The main objective is to introduce and educate young anglers to a competitive sport fishing in a fun environment, while creating memories that would last a life time.

Each team competing in the tournament consists of one adult angler and two young anglers under the age of 17. Every team will have a great time fishing in a competitive format style tournament, with an official weigh-in, prizes, awards and Topper Pizza while waiting for the weights to be posted.

Guiho Saw Sales and Marine Ltd., has received over $4000.00 in Sponsors for this years event, Thanks to Servpro Timmins, Krazy, Krazy, Suzuki Canada, Lund Boats and Mercury Marine, Big Mikes Tackle Emporium, BMT Insurance, Motovan, Gama, Kimpex Marine, Wild Exodus, Cons Electric, Debastos & Sons, Interpaving, Typo Press, Miller Paving and Dixon Electric.

This year I will be handing out some other prizes Thanks to, Kamooki Lures, XZone Lures, Action Dics from WiggleFin and some Liquid Mayhem Hats.

No child will leave empty handed.

This year, first place prize will be a 2018 Lund A12 Utility Boat, and a 2018 Mercury 5HP. Outboard and trailer will be pulled out of a hat (Registration Prize.) If the youth goes out and fishes with an adult their name will go into the draw so it will be fair game for everyone seeing that this event is designed for the kids.

The target species for the tournament will be Walleye. Entry fees to the tournament are $150 per team and must be received by June 30.

Late entries will not be guaranteed a starting position. Alternates will be held until the week of the tournament.
