Get to know the councillor candidates in Timmins this week.
The Timmins Chamber of Commerce is hosting two candidates debates.
“We actually hold the ward debates for the councillors just so that each of the residents in those different wards can get a different perspective and know and understand the representatives that are running for them in their areas,” said Nancy Mageau, Timmins Chamber of Commerce board president.
People running for the Ward 2, 3 and 4 councillor seats are debating tonight (Oct. 10) at Northern College's Quill Pub. It runs from 6 - 8 p.m.
Thursday, Oct. 11 is a debate for candidates in Ward 1 and Ward 5 at College Boreal from 6 - 8 p.m.
Mageau said the format will be different from the mayoral debate held last week.
She explained each councillor will have time to give an overview of what their platform is. From there, she said it will depend on the questions and what the general audience wants.
