Woman accused of stealing beer from grocery store three times in one day

25-year-old faces multiple charges as a result

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local person with theft related offences stemming from a series of incidents that occurred on Monday, Jan. 24 at a grocery store in Timmins.

A Timmins Police Service officer responded to three separate incidents where the same suspect attended the grocery store and proceeded to collect various beer products and flee without making any attempts to pay for the merchandise on each occasion.

Based on the investigation, the responding officer was able to identify, locate, and arrest the female suspect the following day and take her into custody.

Upon arrest, some of the stolen items were found amongst the accused person’s personal effects.

As a result of these incidents, Judy Jacasum, 25, of Timmins, has been charged with: 

  • Three counts of theft under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Three counts of possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Three counts of fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Three counts of fail to comply with undertaking contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Jacasum remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against her.
