Woman accused of shoplifting twice from same store

The Timmins Police Service has charged a person with theft related offences stemming from two incidents that occurred on Monday, Sept. 14 and again on Tuesday, Sept. 15 at a Riverside Drive clothing retail store in Timmins.

A Timmins Police Service officer responded to a call for service yesterday at a local clothing retail store regarding a suspicious person who had been observed [allegedly] concealing items on her person while in the store.

It was determined that this was the same person who had [allegedly] stolen over $340 worth of clothing the day before and whose likeness was captured on the store’s video monitoring equipment.

The responding officer confronted the female suspect and found her to be in possession of stolen clothing and placed her under arrest for both consecutive thefts.

As a result of the incident, Karen Constantin, 47, of Wikwemikong, Ont., has been charged with:  

  • Two (2) counts of theft under $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada  
  • Two (2) counts of possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

Constantin remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against her.
