The Timmins Police Service has charged a local woman with a number of Criminal Code offences stemming from a series of nuisance incidents spanning the last few days and resulting in an arrest early this morning.

The Timmins Police Service 911 dispatch center received calls on April 7 from a female person who made reports of a person being injured at a Balsam Street address which were later determined to be false.

Responding Timmins Police Service officers confirmed that the reported matter was in fact baseless. Calls of a similar nature were received from the same person up until she was located and arrested early this morning.

A coinciding investigation into the woman’s behavior confirm her involvement in a theft from motor vehicle incident. The woman was located and arrested by the Timmins Police Service early this morning at a Way Street address.

As a result of the incident, Briana Cabral, 26, of Timmins, has been charged with:

  • Two counts of public mischief contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Theft from motor vehicle under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Three counts of fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing that is slated for the morning of Tuesday, April 14th at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against her.
