Woman accused of assaulting officer during disruptive incident at local shelter

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local woman with a number of Criminal Code offences stemming from an assaultive altercation which occurred yesterday (Dec. 1).

The Timmins Police Service responded to a complaint regarding a disturbance at an area shelter involving a client who became abusive and disruptive which merited a police response.

Upon being arrested, the subject is alleged to have assaulted the responding Timmins Police Service officer who was escorting her from the scene.

Based on the outcome of the investigation, Manon Levesque, 31, of Timmins, has been charged with:

  • Assault peace officer contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against her.
