Weapons, drugs seized following search of Kirby Street home

The culmination of an intensive investigation by the Timmins Police Service – Drug Enforcement Section has resulted in the execution of a search warrant during the early evening of Wednesday, May 27, at a Kirby Street address in Timmins.

Upon executing the warrant, a number of persons found within the residence were arrested.

The search of the residence resulted in the following items being located and seized as evidence: 

  • A quantity of cocaine, crack cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, methamphetamine tablets, and psilocybin (mushrooms), with a combined street value of $9790 was seized 

Additionally the following was also seized as evidence: 

  • $14,185.00 in Canadian currency  
  • A sawed off shotgun  
  • A 12 gauge pump action shotgun  
  • A .303 bolt action rifle  
  • A “morning star” (prohibited weapon).

As a result of the incident:  

  • John Fortin, aged 55  
  • Roxanne Lebel, aged 50; and 
  • Sarah Degrechie, aged 23

Each of Timmins, have been charged respectively with:  

  • Three (3) counts each of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act 
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act  
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada  
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada  
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Possession of a Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada  
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Each of these accused persons have been released from police custody on the strength of an Undertaking requiring that they attend at Provincial Court in Timmins on an August court date to answer to the respective charges laid against each of them.

Additionally, Natalie Harrisson, 31, of Timmins was located within the residence and arrested and charged with: 

  • Breach of Conditional Sentence contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

She was held in police custody for the purposes of conducting a Bail Hearing which was held yesterday morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charge laid against her.
