Wanted person arrested during dispute: Police

Police say another wanted person was arrested after a call for service in a separate incident yesterday

The Timmins Police Service arrested two local residents on the strength of respective arrest warrants which were executed stemming from separate incidents that occurred yesterday (June 17).

While responding to a “dispute in progress” call for service in front of a Fifth Avenue residence, a Timmins Police Service officer recognized one of the subjects involved as being a “wanted person” named in a current arrest warrant held by the Timmins Police.

Once the validity of the warrant was confirmed, the subject was arrested by the Timmins Police Service.

As a result, Jordan Edwards, 34, of Timmins was arrested on the strength of the warrant.

He remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at provincial court in Timmins to answer to charges resulting in the arrest warrant being issued.

In a separate incident in regards to an “unwanted person” call for service in the Birch Street North address, a Timmins Police Service officer recognized the subject of the complaint as being a “wanted person” named in a current arrest warrant held by the Timmins Police.

Once the validity of the warrant was confirmed, the subject was arrested by the Timmins Police Service.

As a result, Brenda Hookimaw, 32, of Timmins was arrested on the strength of the warrant.

She remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to charges resulting in the arrest warrant being issued.
